In our Star Pass home that we just sold we had a sign that hung above the back door that said, “Home is where your heart says ‘ahhhhh’”.

We all loved that sign because it was really, really perfect for our home. So many of our kids and bonus kids felt that ahhh when they were over. In the last two years between weddings for all 4 of our boys, Alaina moving to Florida, and our decision to sell and move to the farm, that ahhh was only really happening when the kids were home at Star Pass- and that was happening less and less. To be honest, I’ve felt a little ahhhh-less. My heart just wasn’t saying it…

Well, that sign came with us in the move but I just haven’t been able to find a place for it yet.

It was super hard to leave our Star Pass home…So many hearts…so many ahhhhs. probably one of the top 4 hardest things in my life. We built that home- Bob did the building, I did the painting- our babies grew up there, they were 3, 5, and 7 when we moved in- it was ours…we made it, we grew up there! So many ahhhhs…

I have struggled to call this new place home- for so many reasons- and there just hasn’t been an ahhh…

Until tonight.

Tonight I pulled into the bumpy long stone driveway and felt and heard myself breathe out an “ahhhh”. It took me a moment to realize my shoulders had relaxed and my heart had too and another moment to realize what my heart was saying…

A moment to realize my heart was saying ahhhh…

I. was. home.

For the first time in a very long time I heard my heart say ahhh. For the first time in a long time…

I. am. home.

and now its December of 2023…Christmas number 2 here at “home” and my sweet girl keeps working hard to create the magic for our family to share. I walked in to this and my heart immediately said ahhhhh…and my eyes started leaking. Not only am I so honored that she loves to do this, I love seeing has a sentimental side (shhhh) and I am so proud of how talented she is at this decorating and design thing she loves!
